Did you know that every time someone follows you on LinkedIn, they also get prompted to subscribe to your newsletter? Yeah, it's true. That is literally a free visibility engine for you. And most people, they're not using it yet. Today's Spark breaks down how you can leverage LinkedIn newsletters like a low effort, high impact lead magnet that it is. Welcome to Morning Cup of Brand Spark. Today is Monday.
June 2nd, and I'm Gina Dunn, founder of OG Solutions. And today's spark, it's short, it's strategic, and it's honestly a little savage because if you're not doing this one thing on LinkedIn, you're sleeping on one of the easiest ways to grow your audience automatically. So let's spark it up. Here's what most people don't realize. If you have a LinkedIn newsletter, LinkedIn will automatically send an invite to
every single new follower you get, prompting them to subscribe to it. Seriously. Listen to that again. If you have a LinkedIn newsletter, LinkedIn automatically invites them. You don't have to do anything. Nothing. You just start the newsletter, even if you just publish it one single time a month, LinkedIn will do the rest of the work for you. And I'll let me tell you a little bit why this is a huge for you.
It builds your warm audience on autopilot. So they don't have to scroll, search, click anything. This lands in their inbox automatically once they sign up to it. They don't ever have to see you again on LinkedIn. Automatically it drops in their email box. You get more visibility with like zero more effort. So it's not just about writing. It's about owning the algorithm and how LinkedIn works in 2025.
And bonus here, if you already have a newsletter that's going out to your subscription list on your website, replicate that and send the exact same thing with the exact same cadence with the exact same name as a LinkedIn newsletter as well. Not much effort. Copy and paste. And this is also huge because it increases your credibility on LinkedIn instantly. she has a newsletter. That's an instant authority signal.
And before I go any further, let me tell you what I mean by newsletter here. Oftentimes when you think of a newsletter, you think about a curated collection of news articles. That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about a newsletter that is your point of view in a single article, long form, written in a newsletter format. Newsletter in this sense means that it has a cadence that it goes out and it has a name. It is not a curated list.
list sickle as they're called from somewhere else. It can be, but that's not the one I'm talking about here. I'm talking about you having a point of view. And yet most people, a lot of people are not taking advantage of this LinkedIn functionality yet. Why? I hear these kinds of reasons. I don't have time. So you don't need to do this weekly. You don't need to do this bi-weekly. Just start it off monthly. You'll already see.
movement here. Second one I hear a lot, I don't know what to write. Actually, if you have a podcast, repurpose a podcast episode. If you have an opinion, if you already have a newsletter, use that. If you have read something in the news and you have a spicy rant on it, write that in your article, in your newsletter as an article. Tell a story. Once a month,
Any of us can do. Another reason people aren't doing this. hear this too. Nobody will read it. Actually, they will read it because LinkedIn is literally handing it to them. So every time you get a follower, they're being invited automatically. You will see that grow without doing anything. So here's how to fix it in three steps. Number one, head over to your LinkedIn profile, hit write article.
And then start a newsletter. There's another button for that. Given a name, name it clear, not cutesy. Think about what the topic is potentially and what the value is to the people who are going to read it. Don't overthink it though. And then the third thing, set your cadence and publish one single edition. When you publish it, it will automatically ask you to give it a post and it will share it on your LinkedIn feed.
And at that moment on your growth engine is turned on. Just don't forget to come back every month or every by every week or bi-weekly and publish a new edition. Bonus tip. Put your newsletter link in the profile headline or about section of your LinkedIn. And another thing that I do is add that to my, um, uh, my email signature as well as a PS, along with the podcast, of course.
Make it obvious so people can subscribe. So here's your spark check. Spark one, do you currently have a newsletter on or off LinkedIn? If it's off LinkedIn, duplicate it to LinkedIn, boom, done. Spark check two, are you using it as a visibility tool or just a content vault? Spark three, what would shift if every new follower became a newsletter subscriber to?
Automatically. It's like magic. So that's your spark for today. This is low effort. It's high impact visibility and it's free distribution. It's authority on autopilot. If you're not doing it, why not? Tomorrow we're talking about creating visibility without selling out. Make sure you follow and send this to a business friend who could use it too. Talk soon.

Frequently asked
Yes. When you have an active LinkedIn newsletter, LinkedIn automatically sends an invite to every new follower prompting them to subscribe. You don't have to take any additional action — simply publishing at least one edition turns on this feature, and LinkedIn handles the outreach on your behalf.
According to Gina Dunn, you don't need to publish weekly or bi-weekly to benefit. Starting with a monthly cadence is enough to see audience growth. The key is consistency — publishing regularly so the automatic invite system keeps working every time a new follower joins your profile.
A LinkedIn newsletter, as defined in this episode, is not a curated list of news links. It should be a single long-form article written from your personal point of view, published on a regular cadence under a consistent name. It can be a spicy opinion, a story, a repurposed podcast episode, or any original perspective relevant to your audience.
Go to your LinkedIn profile and click 'Write Article,' then look for the option to start a newsletter. Give it a clear, value-focused name — not a clever or vague one. Set your publishing cadence, then publish your first edition. LinkedIn will prompt you to share it as a post, and at that point your growth engine is live.
