When real brand strategy clicks, it doesn't feel like pressure. It feels like peace. Today's Brand Spark is a quiet story about clarity, courage, and the relief that comes when you finally start sounding like yourself. No big pitch, just truth. Good morning. This is your Sunday edition of Morning Cup of Brand Spark. I'm Gina Dunn, founder of OG Solutions. In today's Spark,
It's the soft kind, just you, me, and a quiet truth. And hopefully a cup of coffee, huh? Today is Sunday, June 29th. Let's begin with this. When your brand voice finally sounds like you, it feels truly like a sigh of relief. Let's spark it up. Let's start with a client story. She came to me with multiple bios. A homepage.
She actually hated and didn't want to send out. And a folder full of half written messaging. She kept saying, none of this sounds like me. None of this feels right. And when I asked her what did sound like her, she couldn't answer it. That's because she has been trying so hard to sound legit.
that she forgot how she sounds when she's just being honest and her. And that's what clients wanted to see.
So let's talk about when the shift happened. We didn't start with the words even though that was her first pain point. We started with a strategy. Who is this for?
What do they actually need? And what do you actually do? And then why haven't you said that before? And slowly her answers got sharper. Then they got lighter. And finally they got braver until finally one line came out and we both like paused and gasped. that's it. How does this clarity feeling feel?
Real strategy doesn't feel like a sales funnel. It feels like a sudden alignment. It's like someone hands you a microphone and said, say it your way and this time don't hold back. That moment is why I do this work. Because strategy isn't pressure. Strategy is permission. And when it lands, you don't need to be louder or say it louder. You just need to breathe it in.
So here's your spark reflection today. Spark one, when was the last time your brand made you feel calm? Spark two, what would shift in your bio if it felt like a relief to say it out loud? And spark three, where are you still trying to impress or wear a costume instead of connect and be yourself? No push today.
Just an open door. Don't forget you need a mirror. Strategy feels like clarity. But even more than that, it feels like you, unfiltered. That's your Sunday spark. See you tomorrow on Monday, and we'll do it again.

Frequently asked
According to brand strategist Gina Dunn, this happens when you try so hard to sound legitimate that you forget how you actually speak when you're being honest. The fix isn't better copywriting — it's strategy first: clarifying who your audience is, what they need, and what you truly do, before any words are written.
Gina Dunn describes it as sudden alignment — like someone hands you a microphone and says 'say it your way.' It feels like a sigh of relief rather than pressure or a sales funnel. When strategy lands correctly, you don't need to be louder; you just need to breathe it in and trust your natural voice.
Gina Dunn recommends starting with strategic questions before tackling messaging: Who is this for? What do they actually need? What do you actually do? And why haven't you said that plainly before? Answering these honestly — rather than impressively — is what produces brand voice that feels natural and attracts the right clients.
In Gina Dunn's framework, strategy comes first and addresses the foundational questions of audience, need, and offer. Messaging — the actual words, bios, and homepage copy — flows from that strategic clarity. Many people try to fix messaging without doing strategy, which is why their content keeps feeling off or inauthentic.
