Hey, welcome back to Morning Cup of Brand Spark, the Sunday spark for founders who know they're not here to blend in. I'm Gina Dunn, founder of OG Solutions, and today's reminder is really simple. Your brand, it's not for everyone. And that's not a bug, that's actually the point. So let's spark it up. All right, if you're still trying to build a brand that everyone likes,

then you're setting yourself up to build a brand that nobody actually loves. So here's the spark. Brands that stand for everyone and everything actually stand for nothing. And safe brands, well, they die quietly. And brands that spark a movement, they polarize, they repel, and they magnetize. And that, my friends, is exactly what you want.

So think about it. You're not for everyone who needs coaching. You're not for everyone who wants branding. You're for the specific people who see your spark and then they think that, that's who I need. Your vibe isn't supposed to land with everyone in the world. It's supposed to land so hard with the right people that they chose you without blinking.

and without batting an eye.

So I once had a client who was sort of afraid to take a stand because she didn't want to alienate potential customers. So she kept her messaging safe. She kept it neutral. She kept it really vanilla. And guess what happened? She didn't offend anyone, but she also didn't inspire anyone. So we sharpened her messaging, gave her a point of view, made her voice edgier, more like her.

And we actually planted her flag. And guess what? Yes, a few people unfollowed her, but twice as many of them leaned in. Her applications doubled and her sales calls tripled because now she stood for something that really truly mattered to somebody. So here's your Sunday Spark check. Spark one.

Are you more afraid of being disliked or are you more excited about being unforgettable? Spark two, what's something that you believe might push the wrong people away, but pull the right people closer to you? And spark three, where are you still sanding down your edges to be safe? And what would happen if you stopped doing that? Spoiler.

What would happen if your brand would finally wake up? And here's your final truth bomb. Playing it safe might get you a polite clap. Playing it real gets you a standing ovation from the real audience that you want. You're not here for everyone. You're here for your people. So be bold enough to find them. And that's your Sunday Spark.

Next week we're diving deeper into building brand trust, elevating your authority, and making sure that your brand feels louder and smarter than the rest. So hit follow if you haven't already. And remember, safe brands are unforgettable. And remember, safe brands are forgettable. Real brands are unmissable. Go be real. Talk soon.

Key takeaways & FAQ

Five things to steal

  1. 01 Brands that try to appeal to everyone ultimately stand for nothing meaningful.
  2. 02 Polarizing your audience repels wrong-fit clients and magnetizes ideal ones.
  3. 03 Sharpening your brand voice to reflect your real personality drives measurable results.
  4. 04 Playing it safe produces polite indifference; authenticity earns fierce loyalty.
  5. 05 Stop sanding down your edges — your brand's power lives in its specificity.

Frequently asked

According to Gina Dunn of Morning Cup of Brand Spark, brands that stand for everyone actually stand for nothing. Safe, neutral messaging fails to inspire anyone. When you try to please everyone, you avoid offending people but you also stop connecting with them. A brand needs a clear point of view to attract the right audience with enough force that they choose you without hesitation.

Gina Dunn shares a client case where softening messaging to avoid alienation produced zero results — no offense, but no inspiration either. Once the client's messaging was sharpened with a distinct point of view and a voice that matched her personality, some people unfollowed, but twice as many leaned in, her applications doubled, and her sales calls tripled.

Gina Dunn suggests asking yourself three questions: Are you more afraid of being disliked than excited about being unforgettable? What belief might push the wrong people away but pull the right ones closer? And where are you still sanding down your edges to stay safe? If your messaging feels neutral and vanilla, it likely isn't connecting deeply with anyone.

On Morning Cup of Brand Spark, Gina Dunn draws a clear line: safe brands are forgettable, while real brands are unmissable. Playing it safe might earn a polite reaction, but showing up authentically — with a genuine voice and a real point of view — earns a standing ovation from the audience that actually matters to your business.
