"You're not uncopyable because you're clever. You're uncopyable because your voice is rooted in your truth."
Full transcript
Hey, welcome back to Morning Cup of Brand Spark. Today is Saturday, May 18th. I'm Gina Dunn, founder of OG Solutions. And today's spark is for the founder who's still overthinking their content because they're afraid of sounding basic, boring, or beige. Here's the thing, you don't need to sound more creative. Here's the thing, you don't need to sound more creative. You need to sound more like you.
So let's spark it up.
So here's the spark.
You are not the algorithm. You're not a hook machine. And you're not here to sound like 75 % of Instagram or LinkedIn. But if you're still stuck mimicking the voice of your industry or regurgitating frameworks that work for others, you're building a brand that blends and doesn't break through. So here's your spark. You're not uncopyable because you're clever.
You're uncopyable because your voice is rooted in your truth. If your voice is so generic, it could be posted by somebody else, then you're not building authority. You're building interchangeability.
So what makes a voice uncopyable? There's three things. One, it's not just style, it's substance. Two, it's not just branding tone, it's lived experiences. And it's not just about being bold, it's about being real as hell. An uncopyable voice,
is when your content is so you that someone could read it without a name and know exactly who wrote it. And that's how you start building this voice. Here's four steps for you. Step one, stop writing for engagement. Write like you mean it. Step two, say the thing your audience needs to hear, even if it risks unfollows. Step three,
Write with rhythm. Your voice has a tempo. Lean into that tempo. And step four, speak from the scar, not the wound. Authority with empathy, it hits different.
So I've got a story for you.
I had a friend who kept second guessing her content because someone said it already. And I told her, of course they did. There are actually no new ideas out there, even less with ChatGPT and AI. But you know what? No one said it like you. With your perspective, with your sass, with your scars, with your timing. So we found her uncopyable edge. And then her people found her.
So here's your Spark check today. Spark one, does your content sound like your real voice or a filtered one? Spark two, could someone copy and paste your last three posts without credit and no one would notice? And Spark three, what truth would only you say that way?
And that's your spark for today. You're not here to sound like everyone else. You're here to sound like the one and only you that they'll remember. Tomorrow we're closing out the week strong. Why you're not getting referrals and how to fix your brand recall so that people send your name and say your name with confidence. Hit follow, share the spark and go be uncopyable. Talk soon.

- 02 Write content so distinctly yours that readers recognize it without a byline.
- 03 Stop optimizing for engagement — write with intention and genuine perspective instead.
- 04 Speak from the scar, not the wound: authority paired with empathy hits harder.
- 05 Generic voices build interchangeability, not authority — specificity is your competitive edge.
Frequently asked
According to Gina Dunn, an uncopyable brand voice comes from three things: substance over style, lived experience over branded tone, and being real over just being bold. The goal is content so distinctly yours that someone could read it without your name attached and still know exactly who wrote it.
Gina Dunn describes authentic voice as writing like you mean it rather than writing for engagement. It means saying what your audience needs to hear even at the risk of unfollows, finding your natural rhythm or tempo, and sharing perspective shaped by your own experiences and scars rather than recycling frameworks that work for others.
Gina Dunn argues that if your content is so generic it could be posted by someone else, you are building interchangeability rather than authority. A voice that blends in with 75% of industry content on Instagram or LinkedIn fails to break through, making you replaceable rather than memorable to your target audience.
Gina Dunn addresses this directly by acknowledging there are no truly new ideas, especially in the age of AI. The differentiator is not the idea itself but the unique perspective, sass, timing, and personal experience you bring to it. Your specific angle, shaped by your own story, is what makes the content yours and yours alone.
