Welcome to Morning Cup of Brand Spark, bold brand strategy in 10 minutes or less. I'm Gina Dunn, founder of OG Solutions and brand strategists. So grab your coffee, today's spark, why your brand feels off and what the heck you can do about it. Let's go. All right, we're gonna start with some real talk. If you've ever looked at your website or your Instagram bio or even your business card,

and you've thought, well, it's fine, but it doesn't really feel like me. You're not broken. Your intuition's even louder than your branding right now. And honestly, I love that for you. Because most people ignore that little voice in their head until their whole brand is bleeding followers. It's bleeding cash and it's hemorrhaging opportunities.

Here's why it happens. Most of us build our brands when we're just trying to get it out the door. We're doing a quick logo, we're pulling together some cool colors, we make a catchy tagline, and then you hit publish. You feel proud, and honestly, you really should feel proud. But six months later, maybe a year later, you start to realize this really isn't actually me anymore.

The market shifted. You have evolved. Your skills have gotten sharper. You've honed yourself. But your brand? It's still stuck in that, I'm just gonna throw something up real quick kind of energy. And that my friend is why your brand feels off right now. It's not about the fonts. It's not about the aesthetic. It is not even about your follower count. And trust me,

Vanity metrics do not pay your bills. It's all about alignment. And here's today's spark Brands grow stale when the foundation isn't strong enough to stretch with you. When your positioning isn't clear. It's when your messaging is wishy-washy. Or it's when your voice sounds like a LinkedIn post from 2016. You're basically standing out

on wet sand wondering why you're sinking. So once I had a client, let's call her Sarah. Sarah built this amazing coaching business. I'm talking six figures. She was a powerhouse. But her brand, it still sounded like she was getting started. Super safe language, no edge, no point of view, just a lot of

I help XYZ achieve their goals. Boring, She came to me saying, hey, Gina, I think I need a full rebrand. And you know what she really needed? She needed to stop sounding like a generic quote. She needed to start sounding like she sounded when you spoke to her.

We didn't change her visuals at all. We actually rebuilt her positioning. I made her sharper. I helped her dial into her bold voice. We rooted her brand in what actually made her different, not just motivational, herself. And guess what happened? Her engagement tripled. Her wait list opened for the first time ever. And that's not because she spent five grand on a website. It's because she fixed the foundation of her strategy. So let's flip it over to you. If your brand feels off right now, ask yourself these three messy but honestly quite magical questions. One, can I explain who I am and why I matter in one clear sentence without rambling and without a sales pitch? Two, Does my brand voice make people feel something? Or does it sound like everyone else in the industry? Three, when someone sees my brand, does it pull them closer or does it leave them confused? If you're feeling a little sweaty right now, that's good because growth always starts with a little bit of squirming. You're not here to play small. You're not here to blend nicely. You're here to make your brand unmissable. And that's your spark for today. No overthinking, no perfection paralysis. Just one tiny flame that could light up your entire brand if you let it. Tomorrow, we're getting into the real reason that your messaging isn't converting.

And spoiler here, it's not because you need more emojis. Hit follow so you don't miss it. Share this with the founder that you know needs it. And remember, your brand isn't broken, you just need strategy. Talk soon.

Key takeaways & FAQ

Five things to steal

  1. 01 Brands grow stale when their foundation isn't strong enough to stretch with your evolution.
  2. 02 Fix brand misalignment by rebuilding positioning before touching visuals or aesthetics.
  3. 03 Your intuition signaling something feels off is louder and smarter than your current branding.
  4. 04 Replace generic 'I help XYZ achieve goals' messaging with a bold, specific point of view.
  5. 05 Ask if your brand pulls people closer or leaves them confused — confusion kills conversion.

Frequently asked

Your brand likely feels off because you've evolved but your brand hasn't kept up. Most brands are built quickly just to get launched — a logo, colors, a tagline — and published fast. Over time, your skills sharpen, the market shifts, and you grow, but your brand stays stuck in that early 'just throwing something up' energy. The disconnect between who you are now and how your brand presents itself creates that misalignment.

Not necessarily. According to brand strategist Gina Dunn, many businesses don't need a full visual rebrand — they need to rebuild their positioning and sharpen their voice. She shares a client example where no visuals were changed at all; instead, they refined the brand's messaging and point of view, which led to tripled engagement and an opened waitlist for the first time.

Ask yourself three questions: Can you explain who you are and why you matter in one clear sentence without rambling? Does your brand voice make people feel something, or does it sound like everyone else in your industry? When someone encounters your brand, does it pull them closer or leave them confused? If any of these expose a weakness, your voice and positioning need work before anything else.

Brand positioning is the strategic foundation that defines who you are, who you serve, and what makes you distinctly different — not just visually, but in your messaging and voice. Gina Dunn argues that weak positioning, wishy-washy messaging, and a generic voice are the real reasons brands feel off. Without a strong foundation, no amount of aesthetic upgrades will create the alignment and attraction a brand needs to grow.
